ON FILES: Gillian Anderson wanted the truth on The X-Files movie's opening weekend. ''I snuck into a theater with friends Saturday night. It was a college crowd; they seemed to really be enjoying it. They got all hyped up around the kiss.'' (Read that the almost-kiss.)

Anderson figured it was a different crowd from the premiere, where "it's a judgmental crowd, people with vested interests.'' (Are we sounding paranoid yet?) But in the Westwood Theater "they laughed a lot at Mulder's sense of humor. They got very excited when Scully (her character) yells at the guy in the federal building (about a bomb).''

Anderson, who is being propelled full speed into a movie career, thinks people are going ''who are not part of the cult, people who would see Mission: Impossible, anybody who likes adventure films.''

As for her daughter, Piper, 3, she won't be seeing it till she's maybe 8, ''if she's not afraid of these things, but it's not that scary.''

Anderson says of co-star David Duchovny, with whom she's had an up-and-down friendship: "We had a nice moment of 'this is a good thing' after he saw it for the first time at the premiere."

Anderson figures Fox will want a sequel, but she hasn't talked to director Chris Carter about that. She doesn't sound eager; she has two years on her TV contract, and says a sequel might come ''eventually,'' maybe in three years.

This lovely redhead must be set financially with her TV success, but says, ''I don't feel I can relax. There's so much more I want to do.''

"Gillian Looks Like A Million"

Excerpts:
"I was arrested on graduation night for breaking and entering into the high school." It was, she confesses, a night of excess, after which "I called my boyfriend, who had given up and gone home earlier in the evening. I spent several hours in jail before he came to get me out."
And so, rabid X-philes, somewhere in a suburban Grand Rapids police station is a badly lit, cruelly stark mug shot of the teenage Anderson, pierced nose and all. "It was a punk stage I went through," she says, folding her legs.

CBC Radio Interview March 16, 1996

Excerpts: GA: There's also one other e-mail that I got... they posted some words in my senior… in my high

School senior yearbook. These are some of my remarks and it was actually a song that my boyfriend at the time had… um, a song that my boyfriend at the time had um… written, and I put it in the yearbook... um…

Q: Was this your quote next to your graduation picture?

GA: Yeah, yeah… This was my quote at the end. Somebody said that "If I were you I'd find this very disturbing" and um... yes, you are absolutely right - this is very disturbing… I mean, like, it's not *extremely* disturbing, but um, nevertheless it *is* disturbing... and I just wanted to set the record straight that there are not my words, those were an ex-boyfriend's of mine. And actually I know the girl who's been posting there… I saw, actually during the FHM shoot, somebody had pulled up on the computer um... all of this information about me from all these pictures of me when I was in high school and this young woman, or old woman, I don't know by now, Sue Towlbridge who used to be at school with me…

Q: All right! Name names!!!!

GA: decided to... oh! Am I not allowed to do that?

Q: Oh no! I think it's great.

GA: had decided to uh, display my personal stuff in front of the world… which is *FINE*...

Q: no, come on! I get the feeling that you consider it an invasion of privacy.

GA: No, not an invasion of privacy, but…I just... um, it's strange that somebody would... would take it upon themselves to… to *do* that you know? Because it's you know...

Q: It makes other people feel important... "I knew Gillian Anderson when, dot, dot, dot?

GA: Maybe, maybe. It was just very surprising to find all that in there. I mean, it was nothing... you know, whatever! (Laughs) But these, um, these are NOT my words… um…

Q: So there!

GA: No! Nonononono… it's fine! I mean, it's nothing bad about what he's written at all. I think I liked the song very much when we were together, but um...
